Appointment of new Director

February 10, 2025

The Trustees of the Garfield Weston Foundation are delighted to announce the appointment of Clare Gough as the Foundation’s new Director. She will succeed Philippa Charles, who stepped down last June.

Clare joins us from the Pitzhanger Manor and Gallery, where she has been founding Director since 2016, overseeing its restoration and transformation, and building it into a vibrant and successful centre for the arts.

Sir Guy Weston, Chairman of the Foundation, said: “We are delighted that Clare is joining our team. She brings an enormous amount of experience in the charitable world, and we are very excited to be working with her. We would like to express our thanks to Flora Craig, who has led our team wonderfully as Interim Director, and who will continue in her role as Deputy Director when Clare starts in May.”

Clare said: “I am so excited to join the Garfield Weston Foundation, which has such a significant impact in its support for diverse charitable activities across the UK. I have long admired the Foundation and its ethos from the point of view of a recipient of its grants, and I am now delighted to join the team in delivering its important work.

“I have loved my time at Pitzhanger and leave a fantastic team who have achieved record visitor numbers this year and are looking forward to an exciting and varied public programme for the year ahead.”
