Covid-19 Update

At this challenging time please be reassured that the Foundation is fully open and we have a range of active measures in place, as follows:

  • Our Trustees have given a first-response donation of £1million to the National Emergency Trust – see below for details on how to apply
  • We are convening exceptional meetings of Trustees as needed to expedite decision making
  • We are actively collaborating with other funders to ensure we remain effective and co-ordinated
  • We have provided immediate and simple guidance for charities wishing to change the use of existing grants
  • We are offering flexibility to current grant holders around timescales and reporting
  • We are re-ordering our pipeline to ensure we focus on activities providing immediate relief for the vulnerable and those experiencing hardship as a result of Covid-19
  • Our website and twitter feed are kept fully updated to ensure we are communicative and clear

National Emergencies Trust Coronavirus Appeal

Our Trustees have made a £1million contribution to this fund which will work with the network of 46 local Community Foundations across the UK to distribute funds to charities that are best placed to support people in the most need at a local level.  If your charity is supporting people affected by the outbreak and you need urgent support, you can find your local Community Foundation and get in touch with them at: https://www.ukcommunityfoundations.org/our-network.

If you need additional help in sourcing funds, this helpful article by Civil Society provides an overview of more resources that could help your charity.

Existing Foundation Applicants

If you have an application pending with us that was submitted prior to 20 March 2020, we will be in touch with you to check that your proposal still reflects what your organisations needs currently.  Please check your emails and respond to us by 6 April so we can progress your application.

Please note that all Foundation communications (including grant notifications) will be sent by email as we are not sending out postal letters at this time – this is not typical but in the current circumstances we hope you will understand the need to be pragmatic. If you have sent us an enquiry or have a pending application please do keep an eye on your emails.

We hope you and your families remain safe and healthy.
